Puppy Doldrms
(a poem by Kally O'Malley Dog
dictated to Alison)

Not that much to do on a cold Alaskan Day
It is too dang frigid to go outside and play
The house is toasty warm; the day is dark as night
I’ll just take a nap.Who says that blondes ain’t bright?

Stuart gazes out the window, trying to make a plan
He thinks he is the boss, but he is a little doggy man.
I think we should get cookies or a piece of steak
Why does it have to get so cold for goodness sake?

We are having a meeting. We are staging a coup.
Mariah is foraging puppy treats like good dogs do
We will think it over, maybe right after our snack
We’ll fight off Old Man Winter with our puppy attack!

Or maybe we’ll do it tomorrow.

OH, OH, OH, OH, OH, KALLY O'MALLY DARLING!  Ask your Mommy to explain in detail - you, at least have hours and hours with nothing much to do in your current weather, but I don't know if Mommy has enough time to give you all the details of what she KNOWS your beautiful poem about you and Stuart, one of your brothers and Mariah, one of your sisters does to me!  I don't think they allow a book that thick to be entered here in Pip.  You sweet, darling sweetie-pies!  Just to summarise extremely briefly, I LLLLLLLLLLLLLLOVE your poem and look forward to reading more of your poems - and as for the photo's of the 3 of you, well they are just PERRRRRRRRRRFECT!  Please thank Mommy for taking them.  Is that a doggy toy in the second and third photographs?  Or perhaps a kitty toy?  Or perhaps a doggy and kitty toy?  Please give my love and hugs and cuddles and kisses to yourself and all your brothers and sisters - and oh, yes, to Mommy too.  Mommy is a very lucky Mommy to have you all - but then, all of you are SOOOOOOOOOOOO lucky to have such a lovely Mommy as well!

One of the things that Mommy will tell you is that she KNEW I would be replying to your poem - and possibly she will also know that I would be the first (if I could) to reply!

Oh, and by the way, some blondes ARE bright (like Kally O'Mally) and I think the coup you are all planning in your meeting is a wonderful idea!

Owl/Auntie Di (an owl is a bird too big for doggies to catch, but I don't mind if you want to catch me, but please don't try to eat me - I promise not to hurt you with my talons or my beak!)

Adorable! It's going to rain all weekend here and my cats will be just as bored so maybe they can read this poem.

That golden on top of your couch.
It's Maggie! I miss my Maggie,
she went to doggie heaven years ago.
She looked just like that,
she was a character.  She would do some
of the silliest things.  Best temperament
ever, always smiling.
Except when she saw a hot-air balloon.
(She hated hot-air balloons).

Enjoyed the visit!

Dear Owl,

All my puppies and kitties send their love.  Mariah is jealous because her picture was not in the poem.  So here she is .. sulking!

Okay, I felt bad about leaving her out - so she's in now!

Thank you for loving them as much as you do.

Alison, please tell Kally and Mariah that I am so glad that it warmed up enough for them to play outside for hours at a time today, the sweetie-pies!  I can just imagine them gambolling in the snow with the snow flying as they corner sharply and the adorable paw prints in the snow afterwards!

This is just what I needed today... Your puppy doldrums chased mine right out the window and changed moans to ahhhhhhh's.

My apartment regulations limit me to 2 pets... and long days away made cats an easy choice... but world, look out if I ever have room for all of us to romp... this 2 legged critter will be surrounded by fur on 4 legs! LOL

Loved this!!!

Divine Ms M ~ I hope you are able to have puppies in your life again soon.  They bring so many smiles.

A

Kally & Mariah thank you for sharing their joy, Owl.  They said to tell you that it is getting cold again, but they are toasty warm still.

They also send xoxoxox's with Stuart & Abby.

suthern, keep that smile.  Okay?  Cats are good.  Rowdy and Kaz said to tell you that puppies are way over-rated and rather stoopid too.
