Winded . . .
jogging the lakeshore past knee high surf
shirt sullied
front to back
like Jack Frost at recess in the noonday sun

Standing an extra moment
musing at your approach
I huff and puff at the lakeside air
A gazing puppet . . .
to  breath-robbing  stride

Enticing
yet demure
you side-step surf
framed with endless sand and comber wave

Passing
within a smile's length
Synchronizing
your intended dance with smiling glance

You're met with silence . . .

The sounds of surf
gently fade
below the pulse of my throbbing chest

My one line arsenal
timorous
at home by the mirror

My response ?
a sheepish urge to flip driftwood
with an idle foot

Another faded opportunity
swept clean
like the water erasing your steps
while the drifting wood
strikes my unguarded ankle
~

Hey Rex
You were right there, the scene beautiful, the opportunity knocking, met with a smile, when the shy school boy jumped from your heart to your throat, and there you were recovering from a brain operation while a magic moment slipped by..

I think this is just superb all the way through.

Sorry to read about your wreck, go there tomorrow, don't run quite so hard......smile
You can repair the damage.

Take care

Eric

Absolutely love this, Rex. How many times are we struck dumb when an opportunity presence itself such as this? Yep. Like this one. I shall save it for future consumption.

Such a wonderful view...from both sides of the sand.
