The world is filled with grandiose things
like birds and trees and love
but unless they mix and mingle
and reach across the great divide
the clouds come in and threaten
to wash the goodness out.

Not everyone is like a vine
to wind within the meaningful
and wrap it, pack it, seal it up,
without the touch, taste, smell,
and so of them not so endowed
they become as travelling minstrels
gathering and harvesting
from intuitive insight.

There is no limit, none at all,
to how much the soul can store
when at a thought inbuilt reserves
discard the trivial
each day, each minute, second,
as the wagon trundles on.

It is the roll on rough terrain
that tests the mechanism
of how we act, react,
to make of the storehouse
a good place to dig and ferret.

I'm building such a place
but each day, each minute, second,
I'm conscious of a mystic glow
From an, oh, so empty space.

Inbuilt reserves?  Oh, yes, indeed.
They simply cannot move
a glow so intangible
as to not be there at all!

You always seem to challenge us with you indepth poetry, Helen. This one for sure sets the gray matter to nattering. The obstacles each of us face is of the utmost of importance at a given moment. Fifteen years hence we sometimes look back and wonder why we gave it so much of our energies. Good write.

To mimic is a form of praise unless
you have no thoughts of your own

Dear Jerry.  You think well and true so thank you for explaining it to me.  "She" speaks in riddles and sometimes I miss the crux of the matter.

Thanks, dear late.  Wish I had pondered a bit more in my younger days but, now that I think about it, I probably did.

Aww the mystic glow really got me.  Your poetry has a certain
aoura about it, and yes you glow so softly.

Not only are you a storehouse, my dear,
but your windows are cleaner than Windex could ever make them! I love this!

Not at all what I expected, but even better!

Helen, you do give me ideas to ponder and I think of how many ways the people I know fill the storehouses of their being...not always in spectacular ways or with the same understanding I seek to fill the quests of my life.  Some of them leave me in the dust...and I'm amazed at the treasure children gather in their simplicity. We are not made in molds as we sometimes wish we were when what of expected of us is not readily forthcoming.   But how bored we would be if the terrain were all the same. Just when I think I have tapped my own mystic glow, it appears from a new angle and my crystal ball requires a deeper gaze.  LOL... You are an in-depth poet.  I enjoyed this one very much!

I have no doubt that your storehouse is filled with many treasures, such as would produce this wonderful piece of writing. Thank you for sharing your treasures.

Klassy - Thanks and, yes, life is as you describe but my crystal ball must have been made in China (knock-off of the real thing, you see).

Andrew - Thank you.  Treasures tarnish if left out in the open so best sometimes just to wrap, pack and seal until the need to remember.
