where the wild flowers grow

0 posted 2010-12-26 02:53 AM

i used to like to go to your parties
get drunk and run amuck, with all sorts of ignorant debauchery,
but waking up with no quiet thoughts and doubts
that anything i'd done would make my mother proud,

and now i've moved out to the country
i've enjoyed the silence
and the nature is quite moving,
now i've moved out to the country
where hanging my laundry
is the highlight of my day,
hanging my laundry
is the highlight
of my day,
i'll never come back to your city
i'd like to remember life this way.

i used to like to cure the boredom
do something to excite the world around me
but i'd get so inquisitive and destructive
that anything i'd invented would surely never make
the papers.

and now i've moved out to the country
i've grown fond of having nothing to do
but sit and listen to the snow falling,
and write unfinished verses for the fire
in hopes my words will keep me warm through the night

i'd like to remember life this way.

i once was happy just waving my hand
at the all the problems i believed were love,
couldn't get rid of one without a replacement ready
but in the end i discovered my hands would become unsteady,
convinced that i'd reached the lowest of lows,
unable to create anything that would grow.

and now i've moved out to the country
the wind is colder here and my hands are cracking,
my clothes are stained but my house is clean
and baking bread is the
highlight of my day
doing the dishes
is the highlight of my day,

and i'd like to remember life this way.

Wonderful! The quiet passion behind the words of "Moved to the Country" is quite profound, Kaoru.

"where hanging my laundry"

An expression I haven't heard in quite sometimes. You have many lines in this fantastically-written poem that stand out.

Quiet passion. These words are that in spades.

excellent read for those who love to reflect upon past and present interests, as of today I think the past wins out ... your thoughts remind one to reconsider life's simple pleasures

this one should be put to music

Good for you.
I'm with you all the way.
Out where the breathing air is fresh
where the river has some color
and hanging out the laundry whatever type it may be brings peace of mind.
Get it all out there where it can dry out.

Good stuff!
