It's a cold rain
falling down
inside

and outside
there's no shelter
from the storm

It's a heavy chain,
swallowing my pride

but it's the only way
that you're gonna
get me warm

There's a dark cloud
covering our house

My chasing rainbows
ran away the sun

I'm too proud
to shut my mouth

and I know full well
I'm not the only one

But anyway...

I'll go ahead and say,
"I'm sorry"

I need you
more than I need
to win this fight

If I wake up to find
that you're still here tomorrow,

I'll be satisfied

Knowing I was right

It's an ill wind
blowing between us

I'll hold my breath
and hope that it subsides

Just kiss me again
and let's not fuss

If your walls come down
I've got no place to hide

Let the storms pass
They'll come 'round again

But no bolt of lightning
ever hit me like you do

and storms don't last
the way we do

The only shelter
that I have
is you

So anyway...

I'll go ahead and say,
"I'm sorry"

I need you
more than I need
to win this fight

If I wake up to find
that you're still here tomorrow,

I'll be satisfied
Knowing I was right

I'll be satisfied
knowing
I was right

Reads like a song of remorse, and a darn good one too.  Funny how in life, we push away the very people we want to be closer too isn't it?  Strange us humans.  Merry Christmas!

One of the better poems of capitulation I have ever read. You did the "I'm sorry" bit even as you explained that the world is a wondrous place, but has pitfalls in it and we are all too human and allow ourselves to fall into those pitfalls.

Maybe I'm not making sense here, but you damn sure did with your poem.

Wow! That's a damn good left-handed apology, Larry.

Hey Larry
The realization of needs in this is experience over self importance.
Peculiar how we mature through the years isn't it?
Great feeling in these verses!

Oh, this is very good, dear Larry! It is not easy to say "I am sorry", but, there is such power in it. You convey the importance of forgiveness so well.

Love,
Margherita
