You've been locked up
with the crazies
and the fools

for being
unrealistic
holding onto
dreams of love

silly mortal

you'll never be
  emancipated
until you realize
no such thing
  exists

not in my world

and I've been
locked up
with the crazies
and the fools
deep within
my very own
asylum.

-Trina.

s1nfully_1nn0c3nt:

You've basically answered your own query:

"deep within
my very own
asylum."

they only exist if you allow them entrance into your own thoughts and feelings. The "crazies" and "fools" will attempt to deceive you into thinking it is not a worthy goal to seek love--that it will end in sorrow..but it doesn't have to..but by not at least trying to find love--you're defeated before you even begin.

wonderful introspective poem!

Ah, yes indeed, Trina, I relate big time. I'm never disappointed when I click on your name.

I really love this poem.  It reminds me of one of my favorite David Bowie songs `All The Madmen` off the album `The Man Who Sold The World`.  The refrain goes `Cause I`d rather stay here - With all the madmen - Then perish with the sadmen running free - Your poem is in good company.
