Tired eyes
watching crevices deepening
poundings increasing
while air thins
and the mind runs wild
over thoughts of everyday life:
memory reflected.

Sometimes we see what we want to see, but there are special times as this poem points out that we see clearly both the now and the past. Nice work, M.

nakdthouhts - It seems that the more times change, the more of the old they reflect. I liked this M. Namyh

In just a few wisely chosen words you create a very impressive image of the ever changing times and of our awareness of the "growing" past.

all that I learned in life can be summed up as:
everything changes
always
and nothing ever stays the same.

Hi Maureen
Long time no read your words.
Present always seems to force the past into mind doesn't it?
This concise and right on the point!
Great stuff!

Oh Boy, I know the feeling of tired eyes and the deepening crevis, especially around those tired eyes!  A short, but powerful poem, M~

Thanks everyone, I had a very recent visit with my 86 year old Mother who lives too far away, and noticed such a difference in her and of course the resemblance of myself in the mirror. This world is changing so much and it seems so quickly, that at times it is scary.

Cathy, the best times for me are when I am at school and see the hope and dreams of the "little ones". The stories I could tell would fill volumes. For now, they are my best of times.

p.s. just last week a 5 yr old said to me, "Mrs. Scully you sure are looking very old ...and then continued to say "but are still very pretty!" Kids do say the darndest things don't they!!

Thanks again, everyone.

And we were thinking that the 50's were a dangerous time...

To little kids, everyone over 20 is old, everyone over 40 ancient.
