And I hated you
for trying to take
his special place
you have no right

but sometimes it
takes another man

Who are you, really?
to tell me how to live
its not your place
You're not my....

It was the start
of your heartache

You never left,
and we all grew
through tough times
and good times

Now I understand
why you were accepted

Thank You.
For enduring it all.
He must be smiling
from heaven, my dad.

You're really quite a man,
to have raised another man's
     child.

-Trina.

He sounds like a wonderful man who wouldn`t let a daughter down.  Thank you for sharing this poem with us.

It happens more than is known. If you love someone you love all of them. Nice work.

So nicely expressed with the original resentment that mellows into appreciation and respect.
This is common but much has changed for the better as time goes on.
Excellent write!!

They really love the mammas don't they?
Its true, as a youngster you just don't realize but the awareness is there now, beautiful :-)

Have to agree with Earl, he must be a great man. Fine tribute, Trina.
