.

At a grocery store
You stand in a line

Among the others
The strangers
You don't know
Or care to know

Calmly because
You've been through it all
And there is no fear

And you think to yourself
It's good to be strong

To move
At last
With such final indifference
Through lives
That are but various ends

And then someone
A woman
Slowly turns
Sees you
And warmly smiles

With recognition and affection
Remembering what's been forgotten
If in fact
It never was

The street on which
You played and dreamed together

In a town you had thought
Was completely lost

.

Yes indeed, Huan, these kind of things crop up every now and then. It is a good feeling usually when it does.

It's strange to meet someone from the "past we've been passed out of"---hasn't happened to this reader in quite a while. Good, inspired, and thoughtful poetry, imho, and thanks for the good read.
