my living room window
frames
an out of focus photograph
of the house
across the street

but in my front yard
on each of a hundred apples
with the ambition of a berry
I clearly see
the condensed mist
that hangs
from each
like a child
who has walked
onto a diving board
too high,
like a first time skydiver

as the window weeps
the phone rings

it is my sister

her friend’s son
was found
by the mother
hanging
in the garage

on my way
to my sister
I pass the window again

the droplets
have all fallen
and I will never know
if they fell
to a gust of wind,
a flock of birds,
or the vibration
from the footsteps
of passing strangers

But then it's all relative, isn't it? Kids and suicide. I firmly believe that as we grow in technology to where we don't have to think for ourselves (and that day is fast approaching) kids wake up one morning and can't figure out ANYTHING and instead of fighting back (because we shouldn't fight, kiddies) they hang themselves. Either that or replay Columbine massacre.

Deep feelings remain in a whirlpool of questions. They never seem to get flushed away while ordinary life gets drained everyday.
Excellent expression.
