Jumbo Rambo Net Babysitters

One step closer to the end
I can't help the mood I'm in.
Someone's calling from the air
They can hear the piper's there
Payin the price feast or famine
Ships of dreams with cargo damaged.

Searchin lies for some freedom
Ain't no seein that's believin
Givin up time is a joke
Dull homefires left to stoke.
Glancing off the midnight sun
Binary gropers zeros and ones.

Most don't care if they get it right
Rooms with windows and no light.
Jumbo Rambo kids hooked ridin
Cable cars with fiber linings.
Got no friends outside the blog
Got no vision through the fog.
Jumbo Rambo thieving pirates
Sail young minds to optic islands

Mice run up the clock again
Hickory dickory fingered friends
Strikin strokes keys o'clock
Single kingdom webs on lock
Crashin down and who's to lend
A single mouse a helping hand.

Most don't care if they get it right
Rooms with windows and no light.
Jumbo Rambo kids hooked ridin
Cable cars with fiber linings.
Got no friends outside the blog
Got no vision through the fog.
Jumbo Rambo thieving pirates
Sail young minds to optic islands

Jumbo Rambo poison tonic
the babysitter electronic
Kiss'em on the cheek and you'll notice
they might lift their eyes a moment.

Three words...

lose the batteries.

There's always a solution
but unfortunately, most of
today's parents don't know
from fresh air and sunshine.

All too true, unfortunately  =(  My own children never use the internet usnless I`m right next to them, and they have time limits on their pc game playing. (and nintendo.)

I truly enjoy your word-play.. very fun to read, Eric!

Thank you EBM
Yes, it's sad but it's also a real danger, insidious to a degree.

True Karilea many of them don't know and that may be the sad of all sads, When they don't know what's going on in the minds of impressionable youngsters.
Thanks for the read and the comment.

That's good to know Amaryllis.
The computer is a wonderful device when used for education and research etc.
Unfortunately there are many illintentioned people out there hiding in the cyber space.
Thanks for the read and fine comment.

Fine writing, Eric. Parental supervision is absolutely necessary while kids are on the net. Better to be safe than sorry.

As mentioned kids should be monitered by their parents to ensure that they stay out of trouble in the electronic world.  That aside, I like the rhythm of this piece.

Lovely write. Too many issues to go into here on a simple feedback reply.

However, one can tell the kids not to trust anybody on the Net, not to run up big radiophone bills, etc., and then one might use the television cartoons as babysitters---something which the kids might take several years getting over, if they ever do in this world.

EXCELLENT writing, ethome.   The rhythm drives home the message oh so well.   I can see why your band does so well!

Enjoyed this very much and want to save it for the library.  Thanks for sharing,

love the rhythm and the message...

whenever I even try to defend the "old ways" of entertaining oneself or learning, even the younger adults that "teach" don't understand what they are missing. And those in charge of all learning just keep depending on the newer technology to supply all needs.

Ever watch people walking down a crowded street appearing to talk to themselves  or in the stores letting everyone know their private business while shopping...

or the handwriting of children/younger adults today/ that is if you can read it at all...

and then there are those who bully anonymously~~sighing~~

just me griping~~~
