If ever you were mine
Would reality be as rich
as the dream
or dry as the dust blowing
across the Kansas plains

If ever you were mine
Would I always see you
through stained glass love
or would my heart shatter
into a million colored pieces

If ever you were mine
Would we let the petty breakdowns
of day to day living defeat us
or let our love be that higher ground
above the flood, our refuge

If ever you were mine
could the songs we sing intertwine
become that perfect melody
that perfect song
that single perfect note

I'd love to sing with you
If ever you were mine

Robert Goulet's golden voice came to mind when as I was reading this well-written ode to love, or at any rate possible love. Very nicely done.

Hey Paula
Long time no read.
This is very nice. Romantic reality so to speak. At least you're throwing it out there both ways....Like Jerry wrote, it could be a Sinatra or Goulet song.

Good writing!

Oh I agree with Bluesy... this is so lovely!  And I love it as lyrics, too... smash hit material. It`s so sweetly said.

Great to read you, Paula!  Very nicely done. Is all that glitters gold, once you have it in your hands? Good question, Can the reality live up to the desire? I like the way you present it!

Those that have never felt this way about someone, have never really lived.  Nicely written and well spoken. Thanks for sharing. Peace.
