A banquet on a table, set!

where I've never sat before

Massive feasts as set for Kings

draped in naive shades of more

blushes made the candles sting

the heat of flushes as I writhed

living those deaths, wondering

if my sins are sanctified

now that I see them as they are:

a banquet

   on a table, et.

"draped in naive shades of more"

Love this line. Loved the poem period, but there is always that one line or lines which stand out. this is it for this poem in my opinion.

To be somewhere (banquet metaphor) where you have never been before and subjected to sights, words and emotion you have heretofore never had can be a wonderful, but sometimes daunting experience. Taking your sins to the limit here.

. . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(&#!$!

where I've never sat before

This line, and the whole poem
takes me back to December 1999...

when I first visited your fair state
and city.

My only regret
is that we didn't know each other
better at the time...
