It's like you're still here sometimes...
    Waiting by the front door

telling me to hurry or we're gonna
    miss the bus

Sometimes it's like you haven't gone away...
Like you're still standing tall in my honor

telling anyone who dares that they'll
have to go through you first

Just like you never left

It's like you should be here...
To make me laugh at myself

or sit on the side of my bed
    When I'm scared
and wait with me until I fall asleep

You should be here now...
Because I'm still not ready for you
    to never come back again

Because there is a hole in my heart
and in my life that no one else
    can fill

You should be here

Sometimes it's like it happened to someone else...
And at any moment my phone will ring
    and it will be you

    to tell me a story
    tell me a joke
tell me that you're on your way home
    and to let mom know

At times it like I dreamed it all...
    You and me as children
    You and me as teens

    Me at your grave side
with my tears freezing on my cheeks

People telling me to come away now..

Trying to get me to leave you there
    in the cold
    alone

You should still be here

Sometimes it's like these are someone else's memories
    Sometimes...
    but not today

Today it's like it happened just a moment ago...
One minute you're here, making plans
to see me on the weekend

Then the next, I'm making plans to say
    good-bye to you
    for the last time

Sometimes it's like it isn't true...

It's like you should be here still

Because no matter how many years pass
a part of me still doesn't believe...

And it seems no amount of time
    and no amount of tears
    will change the that

You should be here...
with me

If I don't say it...who will?

Aenea
This is so sad and touching, I don't know what to say except you really made me feel your pain.

*touching the screen*

with a smile...

my big brother's ashes are sitting in a box less than ten feet away from me right now.

He still has "my back", so to speak.

The angel statue that is on that box faces my front door...

You and I are lucky to have known such love and loyalty in life--and just think about how much more they do for us from the other side.

Eric - thank you.  I appreciate you reading and commenting

Serenity - you're right.  We are the lucky ones.  Thank you.
