The clouds have massed together
and stretched themselves far and wide
like a woman reaching soundlessly
for a love she cannot see.

She knows it's there amidst the blue
in manly pose of "come hither"
but the clouds of life bear heavy down
upon the intent of spirit vows.

Soon they'll bring the rain to ground
and all that was will be no more
and she waits like one accustomed to
sad demise and then re-birth.

Head bent she bows now unto death
and bids it "chase the clouds away"
for she would see the blue again
in the manner of a woman loved.

But demise is sad; it's meant to be
for those who ne'er fulfilled a vow
and re-birth just the manner, means,
of being again beset by clouds.

So if a clause says, "Vow to be ..."
strike it through determinedly
but better still don't sign your name
to contracts with no guarantees!

Taken from the woman's side of love and what comes after, and I agree, and maintain there are a goodly number of guys out there with similar problems. I understand also that for the most part women usually get the worst of these kind of situations. Men love and are hurt also, but I'm coming to understand (I think) that men in love and women in love can be two wholly different emotions. Women love deeper? Don't know, but it's something. I liked the mini-rant.

Hi, JerryPat. I can't really comment on whether men and women love differently (too big a "discussion") but at least I got you to think.

This poem, however, is more geared towards soul love - probably better termed spirit love but then one could confuse it with being spiritual which has a different connotation.  I think we make "contracts" when in spirit which, of course, are broken when in the flesh.  No different really to humans breaking promises, etc. but now I'm thinking ... "As above, so below" so where does the breaking of vows actually start?

Helen,
It is a write that creates a pause for contemplation. And my two cents worth is you can't separate the spiritual from the secular. Excellent write. Thanks.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Hi, Larry.  Yes, I agree with you.  We are how we are until we know to change and that process could take many lifetimes.  It's like buying a new piece of furniture or ornament for the home - everything has to be moved around to make it fit.

Thanks for the read.
