Forever In Your Heart

0 posted 2010-11-11 04:31 PM

Born so little and sweet,
A tiny baby boy with tiny feet,
Gentle smile,
Loving heart,
Mama loved him so,
She kissed him goodnight,
Rocked him to sleep,
Forever in her heart memories to keep,

One day the boy became a man,
Mama loved him so,
She hated this fighting,
This war,
She had to let him go,
Tears rolled down her cheek,
Don't cry mama, he could hardly speak,

Mama, I love you, every tear you cry mama,
I will be the angel to wipe your eye,
I am going on a journey, but I will be back,
For I have to protect you and dad,
Don't be sad, I will write you every chance,
Then mama hugged him as she cried,
This little boy Was leaving her side,

As he walked away, she still remembered that day,
The sun shinning on his face, his smile, his grace,
This was he calling, this was his place,
Scared little boy in a unknown land,
To fight for the freedom of every man,

The moment it happened, his friend held him in his arms,
With the last breath, he said, tell mama I am coming home,
The angels surrounded him,
And he closed his eyes,
This little boy had said goodbye,

Mama got a visit from two goverment men,
And then was the message given by the friend,
Don't cry mama, I am coming home,
With every tear she thought of every memory,
The little flowers picked just for her at age four,

Little gifts of love displayed,
Her heart had felt betrayed,
For what she gave that day was so much more,
She gave her heart, her soul, her life,

IT is an honor to those who served and died in the war,
Greater is the honor for all the mamas ,
Who won't be seeing their son come home anymore...

You are so right, miss. Not all of the casualties of war are on the battlefield. The families they leave behind are veterans, also. Very nicely said...
