When the heart's heavy and eyes cannot cry
the days and nights meld into a sigh
but the sigh embedded so deep inside
merely grows and grows until it explodes.

There's a scream somewhere next to the sigh
finding voice within where it hurts to breathe
and I pat it and soothe it with relative calm
to the beat of okay, everything is okay.

Then there is sadness moving, moving around,
touching me here and then here, here, here,
and I chase it like one determined to love
that scheming, conniving, fiendish foe.

When the heart's heavy thought patterns emerge
and criss-cross into a jumble of sludge
and they clog up all and every exit
to make me retain the unthinkable.

And so of a heart too heavy to lift
simply leave it behind and move on!

A lot of turmoil here. I quite understand without knowing what the turmoil is about. When turmoil makes itself known and you are at a loss what to do about it, sometimes it is beneficial let things play out.

Dear dear Helen~  You wrote this so well.  The heartache
and weight of it all is evident in each and every verse.

Captivating, and beautifully penned!

Hugs to you,  honey girl.

Thanks everyone for your comments.  If anyone's ever managed to move on without a heart please let me know how you did it.
