obama's a rice paper tiger

I'm in a telephone room
trying to make an appointment
with my clinician, who is
also in my church.
The counselor yells at me to hurry,
yells how he doesn't have time,
yells that we have to get moving,
yells that I'm not ready for employment,
yells. ...
Finally the switchboard clears
and I get through to my clinician.
The line is very noisy,
with what sounds like yelling,
breaking glass and smashing furniture.
I can barely hear her.
It seems there's an emergency at the office,
or that she is having a very bad day.
I wish I could help.
We decide it will be Wednesday at one o'clock.
I write this down on a sheet of paper
and then realize I can't take it with me
because the paper is too big.
That's okay.  I'll just remember.
The counselor and I finally get moving,
him yelling we're going to the bus stop,
with him still yelling, that I take too long,
that I need to be better organized,
that I don't have to write everything down.
I say I do or I'll forget.
As he walks along in the normal way,
I am gliding easily
a few inches from the sidewalk,
working my arms for propulsion,
as if cross-country skiing.
I don't know where I am but do not tell him,
because I know he'll just start yelling.
After a while, I notice he is gone.
So he's playing a nasty trick on me?
watching to see if I can fend for myself?
At first I am frightened.
Then it comes to me it is a dream,
so even if I got run over
I would be okay.
I step out into the street
and lie down in the traffic lane.
I hear cars swerve around me,
as drivers see me at the last minute.

I sit in my usual church pew.
I am wearing Barbara, the therapist's, raincoat.
But it is too short to conceal my nudity.
No one in church notices this.
I suppose they only want to be polite.
I decide, since I am nude,
I will have to go home.
I fly out of Barbara's coat,
out the church window
and float over the parking lot.
as those earthbound
in their cars recognize me,
they are gawking and yelling and pointing.
I do some aerial acrobatics to impress them,
rise abruptly and fly home.
my ride to church is already there.
I tell him that, actually,
I have already been to church.
as we drive to church, I'm telling him
how I discovered I can fly,
that it is really easy,
how, if on your back
you hold out your arms a certain way,
the air will form a cushion
that breaks your fall to the ground.
The reason Art Linkletter's daughter died
jumping out a high window
was lack of training.
They never taught her how to fall correctly.

My friend says that sounds dangerous,
that because I'm blind
I maybe don't know what I'm doing,
and a sighted person should be there
to make sure I don't get hurt.
We stop for an errand.
As I set alone in the cab,
the truck starts rolling down the hill by itself.
Did he forget to lock the breaks? ...
I jump out of the truck, landing next to a car.
The car then morphs into an office chair.
I sit in the chair and pedal circles
round and round another vehicle.
As long as I stay in a parking space
I should be okay.
Then my friend picks me up in the truck.
He apologizes for the problem.
He says the old lady had a spell of the illness
and had to take some pain pills,
but that now everything is fine.

Yes, Lady Lila, right here. ...

Oh Jaime....

You make me wonder if only the non-sighted will ever remember everything. Could it be that all you take in by finger read or disecting waves makes a stronger impression?

You amaze me...you always will.

This was wonderful!

Thank you, Sunshine.
Perhaps this Night will bring me even stranger dreams.
... And if she does ...I'll post them right away ...yawns

Hah! No way could I remember that much of my dreams. Not that I'd even want to.

Seet Daddy- That was dreamy, simply dreamy.  I used to have those kind of dreams
where you wind up naked in weird places. I like your dreams much better than I did mine. Sweet dreams EBM

Such an interesting dream, I could not turn away from this. Enjoyed.
