the maple leaves are tattoos again
brown and gold and some red ones
still alive kind of ink they seem
moving around on friendly ground

there is distance in your voice now
as you reach from tree limbs down
playing god or perhaps godless again
flirting is the nature of your nature

I never did mind the arms length touch
kind of like your rings in the ashtray
with some individual trident protection
so your mouth wouldn't be dry sounding

when you smiled accidentally for my eyes
and forgot you were wearing a dress
as you exited the afternoon doorway
using the ladder we leaned against dreams

and climbed just high enough to be heavenly

Your word play and imagery always amazes me. Enjoyed this.

You have some cool lines in this as usual ... the maple leaves are tattoos again, playing god or godless again, and forgot you were wearing a dress.  Most people would be lucky to have one LINE, but three?!!
