Between the Lines

Underplay

It was  a pity-me kind of morning,
starting out with tears of regret
of anxiety filled thought moments
releasing those hard to forget.

Took a mall walk to exorcise feelings
eyeing the sales of the day
talking to strangers as always
opinions answered their way.

Bringing smiles when helpful to others
cheering insides this pity-me day
opening to thoughts that tomorrow
will begin in a more calming way.

"It was  a pity-me kind of morning,"

I do like that line, eh sounds better than just "a bad day". Lovely piece. Indeed, theres always hope that tomorrow will be better. Enjoyed this.

Hi Maureen.

I am of the opinion that all feelings need to be honoured to the self if no one else.  Writing about the moments of life whatever they may be helps me do that.  As time passes, however, we return unto them all at various stages and the trick is to know that we've been there, done that, so we can move more easily through them.  It's never easy - just easier.

I guess I'm the story teller and you the poetess but hope you enjoyed my story as much as I did your poem.

Regards
Helen

I believe these kind of thoughts, feelings, and experiences apply to way too many
of us these days (especially those who have become disenfranchised 'fringe-dwellers'
of the "Runaway American Dream") ...

v. well expressed!

No better way to get rid of a pity-me day than to take the time to bring a smile to others

Fine writing. Fine transformation from negative to positive energy. Everyday kindness can bring in great change in everyone’s lives.

I can see you walking through the mall talking to folks

I think if I had a mall around here, I'd do that too.

Good write!
