I’m not wired and yet the line crackles
at the place where silence once reigned supreme
and the din like one that shatters contentment
and brings in the beat of restlessness.

No matter the legs no longer dance
or the hips gyrate like a gypsy on show
for the crackle whips up a storm in the mind
and blows the impractical far, far away.

I know it’s a storm, I know it will leave
for that mythical ether of dreams
where again the embrace of nothing, no one,
will leave it completely unaltered.

I wait on the sidewalk, the roadway, home,
for the abatement of thunderous storms
and listen like one mummified
to the crackle of internal vibes.

Crackle and hiss, crackle and hiss,
until the snap into quarters, halves, thirds,
or whatever measurement best
for the mind to eliminate lines.

But in each remnant a crackle survives
and procreates more and many more lines
and so of restlessness how can it die
when not yet satisfied?

Never gets satisfied does it Helen?

Loved the metaphors of the mind's eye.
"I know it’s a storm, I know it will leave
for that mythical ether of dreams"
Great lines!
'and listen like one mummified
to the crackle of internal vibes"

I enjoyed the read as it reached me......

Thank you so much, Eric.  I guess some things are always destined to "be" no matter how much we try to ... trick ourselves.

Ah, the beat does go on until something is settled, I have found that to be true. Sometimes, most times actually, the "settling" is not exactly how we thought it would be. Good stuff.

Thanks ebm and JerryPat.  Yes, most things in my life have never been "as I thought".  Best not to think at all!

I do love the last stanza. Enjoyed.

Thank you SI!  In this day of contrariness I guess it is possible to be ... sinfully innocent.

A good storm
does charge up
the emotions, doesn't it,
Helen?

Thanks, Sunshine!  I think my emotions are always fully charged and that's perhaps because everything means so very much be it the good or the bad, the big or the little.  I wouldn't, however, say it's the best way to be.  On the plus side, I don't wear my heart on my sleeve - just in my eyes!

Bluesy - I always appreciate your supportive comments.  Thank you so much!
