This small
Crimson stone
Drawn from
Fallen autumn leaves
I take for remembrance

There are new cabins
Along the shore— though gratefully
One cannot always see them
Hidden as they are among the trees

Ducks and geese
Wake the surface of the lake
Whose water ripples
With each passing breeze

Is it now a school or church bell
That rings so slowly
Adding its chill to the dusky air

The moon just rising
In the East

If it is really a bell, sir,
then it is most likely a church...

unless you are in an old, old town.

And wouldn't that be a wonderful place
to listen to bells.

This poem is a schooling. Thanks for the thoughtful use of the word "wake" here.

Thanks for reading

The use of "wake" was intentional
given its varied definitions.

Thanks again

John
