Gift

I send you
this simple shell
hold it to your ear
and you can hear my heart

Although the ocean is right across the street from me, its been forever since i've listened to the sound within a shell. I must be taking that pleasure for granted - Thanx for reminding me to treasure the simple things. Enjoyed.

Hi Helen, Good to see you're writing again.
I have a big sea shell I've had since I was 6 years old. I found it in an old house we rented and it has traveled many a mile with me. I don't know why I'm so attached to it but if I hold it to my ear I can hear the ocean.

The poem clasps well to the mind's ear, yes. And the very act of composing and sending shows goodness.

As for those big seashell stories, heh, ours is in storage---don't know when I shall be seeing (or hearing) it again?

I have a little angel holding a shell to her ear, just like your poem.

...this is precious as is your gift.
