It would be preferable, I think,
To be more animal than woman-
Unaware,
Without the burden of my worries
Multiplied by the world's.

No uncertainty
No clenching fear
My heart would not stop
My breath not freeze solid-
Cold, piercing in my lungs, screaming:

"Keep them safe.
Safe.
Why should they worry?
Take it from them.
Take.
In woman's unselfish way."

It is my job.
My duty,
My purpose.
Who am I to complain?
Selfish.
Animal.
Not woman.
Evil.

In selfishness, I am Demoness
No saint shines within
Mirror reflects the unburdened smile
Oh, Woman-Saint, why am I not thou?

"It would be preferable, I think,
To be more animal than woman-"

I like the savagery here. women tend to bind their natural feelings with strings of civility.

I like this work.

It is an interesting work, and a worthwhile read... it not being necessary to agree with a poet's sentiments to enjoy his or her work on a certain level. Selfishness can be wrong or right on the merits, and I have observed small animals wracked by dreams.

I'm guessing even Mother Teresa has had a few doubts.
I love the first two lines, to be as carefree as an animal seems favorable.
My animal form...

none of us are saints...we all have our own sins, if sins they truly are...

"good write"   LOL

I see this stream from the mind and lips a bit like MacBeth and his ghosts...
