It’s a blue rhapsody that plays across the asphalt
Where the hiss of brushed drops is accompanied
By the low murmuring of wind along the crimson skirt of leaves
As the fire bush seduces eyes to follow
The sway of her limbs

October has come again
And the slow jazz ballad she sings to the wind
Reminds me of how warmth feels on skin
When she lay on my arm and we stared at the sky
Sneaking hymns of touch between the chorus and refrain
Always an octave lower than the sighs

Improvise

The tenor of fingertips along the arm
Keep time with the wail of storms that build
Just beyond the hills where they wait with long legs
To wet the tongue of earth before settling
Into a 4-4 slow of mist
I remember how it was to kiss you then
To the quickened beat of hearts

There is this
And the shortened days as bring more of stars
Time to the sky where they stare icy eyed from their seats
Unmoved by season’s tunes or the texture
Of slim fingers as they find notes of pleasure
Upon the keys of another song

Letting chords of memory find reign
On this October
storm

October can be, and is, a very misty month...

Savoring this one...

yes, it often makes me shiver... for even with all its wonderful colors and the beautiful light, it brings with it the frost and change from warmer nights to the colder time...

appreciate your read and leaving a few words... now, go get warm... :-)

Fall is my favorite time of year...and this reminds me of where I live....at night with no one else around; all I hear is the river, wind, and rustling of the leaves speaking to me...far cry from where I used to live in the city...

Happy Halloween!!!

October is the month I first saw the light and thus, my favorite. I love the way you sing her song.
