He hadn't expected Elle to go for him, much less flirt like she did
He wasn't interested, at first, she, another student with a boyfriend

but she let her intentions be known, she was very clear,
stretching, arching her back, waiting for him to look
reaching, climbing, collapsing, all for the "air"
so she spoke, she mentioned the book

He liked Andelina, the actress, a singer, a writer

Elle would have none of that, as she was an Alpha female.
Domination through competition
it should have been her middle name

Andelina was angry, confused, hurt,
she made several wise cracks at his expense,
it was all a part of the lesson

"Do you want us both?" "at the same time?", said she
"No no, just you and me, together,
working through the book together"
that's how the lesson should be.", said he

They tried to keep it strictly business,
but the text book pictures and discussion topics seemed to have a plan of their own

a man from the book, a discussion of "consumer society" bought a tube for his doo

"He has crazy curly morning hair", a reflection he knew
She raised her gaze to his hair and said,
"Have you ever bought a product you regretted?"

10 seconds of silence filled the room like a crippled cricket crawling through a crack

and the pros and cons of shopping...
"I am normal sized, it's easier for me to find clothes I like"
"It's more difficult if you're big or small, said she

10 more seconds of silence filled the room as you could hear the crippled cricket thrust his severed leg through his thorax

Speaking of small, so was her jealous friend the flirt,
the Alpha she is up to bat, her promises of Karaoke, and cards

"Elvis sounds good, so does the poker table, I will come ", said she.

He was over analytic, thinking it was just a ploy
but "women aren't that complicated" was what he had learned from the first lesson...

He thought to himself, "but what did she mean by that?"
He smiled in the mirror, gave himself a wink
put on his headphones, slicked his hair back
lit a cigarette on the balcony, and began to sing...

Classrooms can sometimes be considered prisons, in which case it's all "Jailhouse Rock" anyway. You are a good storyteller.
