Remembering My Mom on her birthday today

i remember when you held me
sweetly singing smiling cooing
your young face and scent of white shoulders
by beacon of safety.

i remember the sunday dinners
homework help, stories, spankings
your tired hands tucking me into bed
before you went out dancing with my daddy.

i remember the stories you told
of your own mother and tangled childhood
a whole life you lived before we met
seeing pictures of you in prom dresses

i remember your patience and confusion
as i grew into a distant adult
avoiding your questions and pushing
away from everything you

i remember later becoming friends
and then holding you in sickness
trying to give you an ounce of the care you had
blanketed my life with

i remember your scared eyes and brave resolve
and in the end you still trying to comfort me
as tears rolled down your cheeks and
you fell away from me forever.

Tracie, this is a beautiful tribute
and memory of your mother. I only hope
that my children will remember me as
fondly as you do yours.

She is missed, indeed.

I think dear Marge is smiling through tears up there in heaven, as she savors your beautiful words, dear Tracie.

Missing her very much, as she was a wonderful presence on Pip.

Remembering her together with you. I am sure she is a beacon up there too.

Love and hugs.

Thank you all for your kinds words. I was a little embarrassed to post on here, but I knew Mom would appreciate it. Too bad I didn't spell check first-- the "by" in the first stanza was supposed to be "my"--ha ha  oh well, that's what I get for trying to type a poem and work at the same time. ~Tracie

Dear Tracy,
As I told you earlier today, your words brought tears to my eyes. There's a poet in you and I wish you would let it guide your hand, because your poem is just beautifully written and right from the heart, like your mom's poetry was.

Don't be embarressed, just keep on writing. I know your mom would have been very proud if she could have read it. I know I am.

Titia

A beautiful tribute, Tracie.  Your mother was/is a special lady and she is greatly missed here.  I'm sure she found much joy in sharing her heart and words and the fact that you chose to share this poem with us here must have her ... beside you with love.

Beautifully expressed, my friend.  Marge spread sunshine with every breath she took.

Though I never personally met her, through the various emails we shared and our many meetings on PIP, I know we shared much in spirit,

She is immensely missed and loved.

What a loving tribute to a lady who defined the word "love"... She is greatly missed... but always in our hearts. And she would have loved this... her smile lit up the screen when the subject was her children or grandiegirls!

I miss your Mom so very much! She was such a kind, loving and funny lady. Her poems always touched my heart and the love she had for the grandie-girls can never be rivaled.

Thank you for sharing this with us. She is missed very much here at PiP.

We all remember Marge so well. She was one of the first I met here at Passions years ago and always remained one of my favorites. She was so kind and a wonderful poet. She always had time for others, a very unselfish person.
I too miss Marge very much.
This is a wondeful write and tribute to your Mom. Thanks for sharing!
