ME. In the Shadow of the Mt.

Fear
It's near
No it's here!
It engulfs me as it leers!
Strangled anguish is all it hears!
I try to fight and hold back the tears!
Growing, feeding, suckling the pain it sears!
I try to break it's paralyzing grip as it sneers!
Quaking, sobbing, mumbling "It's all between my ears!"

Hmmm, I guess that that depends on the situation, how adrenaline or cold-sweat it might be, how real the threat is, etc.

Enjoyed reading, and the rhyme and line scheme! Or is that Rhine & lime?

LOL thanks easy1. Sometimes fear is real and other times it's just in our minds.

Wasn't it Churchill who said..we have nothing to fear, but fear itself?

still, we do find our minds are indeed fertile ground for fear, rational or irrational...

nicely done ma'am
