Light from the darkness

I am surrounded by darkness
Seems to follow me around
Always lurking behind me
Trying to hold me down
No matter where I go
It seems to follow me
I try to hide and run from it
So I can finally be free
Every time I think I lost it
And I start to let down my guard
It comes sweeping in with a vengeance
And knocks me down hard
Things will start going right
My life starts going my way
Only for the darkness to come back
And take it all away
I get so close to happiness
I think I have it all
To have it all yanked away
And deeper into the darkness I do fall
But like a great phoenix
Again I do arise
Rebuilding from the ashes
Drying those tears I cried
Just when I was at my lowest
When I thought I couldn't start anew
I thought about giving up all hope
Then along came you
You broke through the darkness
You showed me there was light
I could feel myself rising again
I knew that I could win this fight
Slowly you helped me up
You helped me make a stand
And all of this happened
Just by taking my hand
You are my shoulder to cry on
When I am feeling down
You are always there for me
When no one else is around
I can always count on you
To be there till the end
For you are not only the one I love
But also my best friend
You are everything I ever dreamed of
Everything I could ever wish for
You helped this broken man rise again
You helped him love once more
I hope one day I can show you
All that you mean to me
For you have touched my heart like no one has
In ways you just cant see
I didn't know that love
Could ever be this great
Meeting you forever changed me
It made me believe in fate
How else can you explain it?
That you found me at just the right time
You came to me when I needed you the most
And turned my life of sadness into one of sublime
One day I might be able to thank you
And give you the life you dreamed of
I don't have much to give you now
But what I do have is my undying love
All I ever wanted in my life
Was for someone to fill my heart with glee
I have sang a lot of songs
But you are by far my favorite Melody
Your voice is that of heavens
It's by far my favorite sound
If you give me this one chance
I promise to never let you down
I don't know how you found me
But I am thankful for it each and every day
I just hope the darkness never returns
And takes my angel away...

Thanks everyone.  Yeah I know I tend to write long at times.  Once I get in that rhyming rhythm I tend to get carried away.

Very heartfelt and lovely.

It's the Universe who conspires to gift us with "light encounters" and well we do to be grateful. You expressed this very well.

Love,

Jessie - Any heart enraptured by another heart has a vibrant ceaseless rhythm. The body may crumble and fall apart but we hope the love lives on and transcends time and space. It may end when it reaches Infinity but will still have enough momentum to vibrate one more step beyond. Any Love so sustained by two hearts unseparated as one is a formidable force to reckon with and historically has been known to collapse kingdoms, topple empires, weaken the strongest of men and women and then amazingly resurrect them as you no doubt have been resurrected from that darkness. Ain't it great. Love your work here JessieJ. Namyh

Margherita:  Thank you very much.  From the heart is all I know how to write from.  Good or bad I can do nothing but write how I feel.

Namyh:  Wow.  What you said in reply to my poem I think might be better then the poem itself.  You have made me smile and blush and for that I thank you very very much.
