Wilhelm cursed the nail as he inspected the tear
“It is such a fine coat” he mumbled to thin air
For with no one there his voice need not carry far
And “Lucky” he thought to himself the tailor
Is just down a piece from this room
And I have seen the fair lady who runs it
And will enjoy the seeing of her

She inspected the fabric with her fingers
Running them in delicate way across the weave
Then looked at him with eyes of brown
And asked,” Will you wait sir?” “Or
Shall you wish to leave it and return?”
“I shall wait, Wilhelm replied and watched her turn
To take a pack of needles from the drawer and select the one
She thought most fine to mend the rend of fabric
As spoiled his fine tweed

Threading through the eye the thread she thought matched
Apt and nimble fingers began to sew fine stitch to weave
Raw ends into a finished heal, intent, a contentment of her lips
Slightly pursed with a strand of hair to grace fine cheek
He watched and as she saw she blushed slight rouge along her cheek
When he asked if she had always known how to sew

A story she told then
Of how her mother taught her much before she died
Of cloth and seams plus many things that still reside
As memories her fingers know and practice as she makes whole
That which is torn or needs much the care to stretch fair
The money others earn

Wilhelm thought about her sitting there and how
The consequences of a tear had led him to her shop
Filled with loom and bolt of cloth that might be dim
Were it not lit by the presence of her bit of skin still showing along the throat
And the way her shoulders seemed firm above a softer curve

In his room the paper lay next to ink
A marriage not yet made
Still words formed within his heart a tale to write of her
And Needle, shuttle, Loom….
Paved a once to time upon as princess she became
Brought to light in a town prince passed through by her many, many skills

“Such Treasure” he thought “she owns”
“As would she my heart, if I succumb to the dreams”
He paused….
“of Love”

Thanks Ma'am.... appreciate the kind words..

The title is partially borrowed from Grimm's Tales itself, and in part from the idea of progression...

honored it pleased you and your ears... :-)

As I started this, I started, myself...
and I'm not patting my back,
but at times, we seem akin
to writing in such a way
as it draws the reader...

and then your house looms out before me
intent on drawing the win to home stretch
just as it should be.

You are still my inner miracle
working on its own making.

I thank you, once again, for coming home.
