Tired

I remember sitting in an
empty and bare apartment
Our apartment.
Eating cardboard
gas station pizza,
exicted and in love.
It was small, drafty windows...
but we didnt notice
all the problems.
We only knew our
love would grow and
consume everything we knew.

How things have changed,,
The heat that consumed
has now grown cold and
while I'm here with these
memories that haunt,
you are rewriting yours

with her

I'm tired of wasting the
tears that fall over you.

I wonder if I will ever
have peace again
or if my heart will
stop this numb ache
that keeps me up at night
instead of finding the
protection of sleep.
My head knows better...
Knows time spent on you
isn't worth it.
One day my heart will
catch up and learn.
I will be able to
remember without the
surge of bitterness
I will start up a
new path and leave
this one behind.

There are too many traps & cages in this world already, too many people willing to hurt the innocent, usually merely for money. One shouldn't do it to oneself as well.

*chuckles* Even though I know this intellectually, I have been guilty of doing it at times, too. Best wishes to the author on finding somebody worthy of lifelong love and trust.

Funny how love can make us oblivious to everything except its bitter end.  Good write! ebm.

A poignant poem full of sincere emotion. Very lyric. Perhaps, shorten the last stanza just a bit?

A heartfelt, poignant write. You will indeed be able to remember the good times while the events that caused suffering will slowly fade away.

After expressing consciously that you are tired of this situation, you can start right now ... draw the line and live in the now where every new day is an opportunity to LIVE and to LOVE.

All the best,
Margherita

Ty you all for stopping by

Bastet:  I was thinking that too when I put it up.. I fixed it to how I think it is better.

Margherita: I keep thinking that I am getting better (we officially left each others lives in March.. he asked for a divorce in November) but then I see a picture of him or her... or I get a new peice of news.  I know with time it will get better. I just wish I could fast forward lol

Don't you hate when your head shouts one thing and your heart puts it on mute?  You wrote this well - the heart listens after it has healed.
