Scribe within the margin of ribs
The fine blue ink of violets in an indigo
Of swelling lips that grow cold
When blood leaves them lacking air
To inhale among the rose or sage
With thick tongue
Lick again verbs and paint with long slow strokes
The way it is to feel yourself thinking
Of shadowed fairy dream tales
It is easy to forget how Grimm
Wrote harsher words than were read
By little beauties on way to bed

The bruises don’t show under clothes
And no one see the welts across your cheeks
Though you still feel the sting of them
Each time you shift your pose
And exhale

Fine fine words
Longhand quilled upon the bone I read
Nouns and names of blue noted refrains
Abraded off slight marrowed threads to
Mark the passing nights in glassine eyes
That only reflect the colors of the sky
Never touching what within
Is timed to walk the moonlight’s dust
Don’t blink
The distance might eclipse the sigh

Grimm writes again
Debauchery of phrase to sly evil meanders the way
Along darker paths than these where no notes hold
Processionals or prose as comes in dark hours of iris and calla
Purloined upon some satin sheet without
A moments pause
But these the dreams
Captured in harsh verbiage without syntax profound
It is about the way escaping is left to shroud
A quickening of pulse or the sound
Of choked plea
Become another fairy tale
To live
