Laundry mountain vistas
Viewed from my oriel
Nerve deep encrusted dust
Guilt my castle walls
And crumb padded carpets
To guide the way
Down the great hall
Of my Podunk prairie palace
My kingdom lies
Just beyond the intersection
Of closed and narrow minded
Highways
Off the beaten path
I’m Queen of Niles
Reigning from the west
Over the whispering village
The royal hounds
Booger bark all trespassers
The royal cat not excluded
Princess’ bunny hops
In mad dashes
Sending his highness’
Fowls a flight
To do flips in the air
Over my willow in waiting
For me to claim my throne
Beneath her
Leafy wreathery
To write

I know podunk places...lol...grew up in one and they can be narrow roaded and closed minded for sure

Royalty is where you find it. Very nice, descriptive write... "Queen of Niles", eh?

Yes, sir, I find them irresistable.  I have a thing for elbow room, breathing space and quiet.

yes ma'am.... grew up with room to roam around as a kid and the nearest neighbor 1/4 mile away....
as I have gotten older, yes, I can live almost anywhere I think...but prefer, the sense of elbow room and a bit of distance betwen me and those who live around me.

I smell the smoky
hollow be thy air.
