I cannot love a man like you,
One so deceitful and untrue.
You inhale air, you exhale lies.
I've given you a thousand tries.
I thought we were near perfect and fit like a glove..
I've wizened up, a man like you I cannot love.

yes, short, but not too sweet is an apt title...
better always to recognize and move on, than to make excuses for and stay, knowing history will repeat itself..

A lesson in "if they tell you who they are, believe them."   Well done!

Inhale air...exhale lies. Great line!

Very succinctly put.

Is "wizened" intentional, as in "shriveled"? Or do you mean "wisened"? I cannot tell if it is a play on words, although in such a context I can understand if that is so.

I like a poem that gets right to the point.

Ouch! How constricting, is the fit, of a tight, and leathery glove. In softness the fit is enduring, like feathers from a near flying white dove.

Yours is the better, but you inspire. So thanks very much.

I'm sure many can relate to the thoughts expressed.

Well written.

something I can relate to, but best to live and forget. The poem is short, inspiring, and wise.

Thank you, everyone.
And Easy1.. I meant "became wiser" so, I suppose it's "wisened" not "wizened". Thanks for pointing that out!

Better to find the glove doesn't fit than to have it smother the open hand in false acceptance. Well spoken. Peace.

@JamesMichael:
Unfortunately, a couple of years. But better late then never, I suppose.
