Night is a house of glass I build
with this impossible chirping,
chain reaction of bird-hollow notes
upon the soft felts and sinews
of Rapunzel's clock,

keeping time and insomnia
in the trembling garden of my body,

of all the gifts
you could have given,
this frozen bird that is whisked away
at the last chime, back
through a clenched mosaic of doors
to hoard the intervening hours in the dark,

a cuckoo trpped in a cupboard
becomes the tightened heart
I tune my body to,

the crumbs of afternoons, absences,
the gaining dark, moments-in-waiting,like damsels,
the day's blood,
the night's phantom in an hourglass,
and such violent blooming,

of all the gifts
you could have given,
this blue trembling skein of silk
to dream a braided stair, a noose
to soothe healing's own dark dressing, blue
as the cords that bind me to the cuckoo's white noise,
beneath my body's muted fable,
this rampant lonliness
with its few, brief & desperate eruptions of hope.

So much talent on this site I have not given proper attention to and you are certainly one. I'm going to correct that...

Very beautiful writing, miss. Not a topic I would have thought of for a poem, even though my ex did drive me cuckoo at times!

I find this achingly beautiful and sad.. layered in metaphor.. I am drawn to this type of poetry, (even though my own scribblings can be so bald)..like a stereoscopic `magic eye` print.. at first a lovely panoply of color and image; yet the longer and deeper you look, the clearer the true picture becomes.. and when it snaps into final focus, it`s so... amazing, so worth it! I just keep returning for another look.

even with her head shaved and the newest tattoos, Rapunzel was weaving her charms like golden braids...just as you weave your words BB-Bel1e
