Over this opaque
coruscating sea
he skims my melted surface
of folding combs
where the fading peridot
stitches into indigo,
casual, too
and still sanguine,
he never flags
at his Sisyphean task..
reaches like a
glossy cormorant,
ducking silver-quick
beneath my waves,
my billows tourmaline,
to emerge just further on,
perhaps a prize
or not,
all the same..
I fold him again
to my brilliantine breast
`return, return..
sea-salt and twilight
shutter your storied eyes`..
the patience there
enough to scatter the foam
to far flung isles,
sufficient to sail
a thousand Baltics blue..
never a creaking hull
or shredded oilcloth,
only him,
though the victory pyrrhic,
bitter as a young chestnut,
as acrid on the tongue..
once more see him
rising on these hills,
chin to the laughing wind,
the sandalwood sky.

Well and neatly composed! Although I am urged back to Webster's, especially for some of the gemstone and other traditional trade goods references.

Both user comments above are correct: Your compositions tend to read very flowingly, yet usually require at least a second reading for better understanding. I am learning that that is actually sometimes an added bonus.

very nicely done...the flow of thought and image an easy course to follow, though tht edepths and savoring of the taste, brings the reader back to ponder..

enjoyed... truly.

Kat: thanks so much for reading me!
.
Richy.. thank you, my friend.. your kind words mean a lot..
.
Easy1.. thank you...  I may have gone a bit o.t.t. with this one and made it  too nebulous..  I fear being too `tell-y` so sometimes go too far the other way, heh! Once again, thank you for reading me and for your comments!
.
Cpat Hair.. much thanks to you also for your words!

Almost intimidating in its richness of poetic expressions, dear Amaryllis! Deeply inspiring!
