In the end,
if the house is a thought,
begin by sifting its ash,

faith, its mortar,
faith, built on sand

and the hush of something endless,
sings like an anxious violin,

a swarm of paper wasps
stream through a Wonderland of parables,
lit with firefly lanterns,
ounce after ounce of burning,

trapped by charcoal parasols
as they spin in the sun,
and the pink troll of our youth
snickers from under its bridge,

each day's bitter ribbon
and its calculus of light
rises up in my face,
like some sad dream
in which my throat squawks
like a bird tearing through the flesh,

as if it were air,
as if it were air,

it's easy now to carry a tune,
to hold in my heart a red song,
perishing inside us,

something pliant and soiled,
to plunder to from fro,

paradise is nothing but a lonely shipwreck,
and to plumb its depths
is loss,
is loss,
is loss,

what is it like, truly, to die like this?

In the end,
it begins with a sultry ache
along the fillings in my jaw,

a blue and ochre bruising,
though, its incandescent, truant hue
is the coo of doves,

little gurgling drums, trapped
in the borrowed vacancy of my body,

on Sundays, I am nothing
but a cupie doll, a dollup of tallow,
bauble of bone, ingrown hair,

enough, enough, already

the house a paper wasp builds,
is paper, after all.

paper houses..parables..promises..

faith, failure, form...

your words and the depths have always amazed my simple mind, and the call...

Enough
enough
enough

echoes.....

brilliant penning ma'am... but you know how I feel about the things you've shared.

If a poem about loneliness, bruises, and hunger, and insects that I know from experience are sometimes real pests, can be effervescent, this one is.

The title (and the work, to some extent) reminds me of the motion picture Paper House. Those paper houses made of thoughts can be pretty tough sometimes, hopefully for better, of course.
