I don't want to go he cries Even as his momma calmly urges him Up the steps to the first day of school I don't wwant to go he sighs As he kisses her goodnight at the door Then walks backwards down the walk for one last glimpse I don't want to go his heart cries Even as he steps onto the plane uniform neat Leaving her there, belly protruding, waving I don't want to go as he tries To loosen the grip of aged hands And looks into the eyes that no longer know him I don't want to go as his soul flies Loosed by a last harsh breath Freed from the pain I don't want to go |

Wonderful expression of how life progresses and sometimes regresses. Have been down a road similar to this. |
