She dances out of the way
of painful memories
and neglect.
The dance keeps her warm
when she feels the chill
of rejection.
She dances on...
gaining strength
from other sources.
She is beginning to realize
that she is not alone.
She dances on.

I do understand this Ida. When one is feeling all these things it is easy to think we are all alone. But once we share those feelings we find out we aren't the only ones.

In this respect life itself is a dance of artistic doing and being. Neglected, it often finds a way through. When foully persecuted, somehow in the larger sense an adaptation is made.

Lovely write here. A very happy birthday to your granddaughter!

I've always thought of poetry and dance as related arts. Liked this one.

May your granddaughter always dance through life, Ida, in the knowledge that she isn't alone - and happy birthday to her.

Thank you, Helen. My daughter died when she was 10 and her father isn't much of a father. (new family-new life) but she has begun to realize that there are others on both sides of her family who make up for the lack of a father.

I'm so very sorry to hear about your daughter, Ida, but so glad that you and others are there for your granddaughter and that she now truly knows it.  Growing up isn't easy no matter the circumstances - gosh, I hope I don't have to do it all over again like in another life but, of course, I wouldn't even know it anyway so no problem I guess.

Beautiful and deeply poignant, dear Ida! I am sure you represent gold for your granddaughter, may she dance and bloom along the path of her life in the awareness of never being alone.

Love,

Ida, this is an exceptionally lovely gift of poetry (and spirit) for your granddaughter, Crystal. May she forever dance on as has her loving grandmother!

God bless you both!

Dear Ida, may your grandaughter, Crystal, always salsa to the beat of a different bongo.

This was fantastic!

Linda. Is that you? I can't believe it. I'm just soooo happy to see you here. I have missed you. Thank you for the comment. My granddaughter is blessed in many ways. She is an exceptional dancer, has many friends and just as a bonus, she is very beautiful.
Best of all, she is a kind and thoughtful person, A Leo like yourself.

Awww, that was so sweet of you to say, my dear Ida Belle.

As for Crystal, it appears to me that the petal did not fall far from the magnolia.

Hello Ida, just to talk you about caipirinha, don't try with kids, cachaca is an alcohol like rhum or whisky, sorry it was confusing.

have a nice day
