Your silhouette shown in the shadows
breezing through the archway
sending a draft from the edge of the sea
caught up in the swirling
your silhouette angled
on a slant and sigh.

I traced you in the sunlight
drawn to your warm gaze
vibrant and true
like strings on a kite
or salt on the rim
I looked up and held on
I felt
and I tasted
we flew.

Looking back through the shadows
slowly fading to sepia
I delight in those sun days
and wide open skies
though sometimes my eyes burn
from tears that I've cried.

Facing the wind
feeling the breeze blow
still warm and still true
silhouetting a sigh
for those moments
in time
you were mine.

Dear Lori,

First of all, your new picture is absolutely stunning! Everytime you put up a new one it becomes my favorite, but this one really is the cutest!

I wish you had a book published of all your poems, how I would love to have that with me at the lake, just lying under a tree falling asleep with it on my chest, dreaming of ever blueautiful seaside serenades.

I soo loved this new piece of your's.

"I traced you in the sunlight

vibrant and true
like strings on a kite
or salt on the rim
I looked up and held on
I felt
and I tasted
we flew.

Facing the wind
feeling the breeze blow
still warm and still true
silhouetting a sigh
for those moments
in time
you were mine."

I'm sure that warm breeze still whispers true.

Lovely dear friend.

What a delicious poem!

You bring the reader into the scene, almost physically -- I felt this interlude as well as just reading of it.

My view is that a poem is a chosen memory, that the writer shapes and shares, and the reader makes their own. I'm glad of this one.

Very nicely penned. I can relate to the cement or stucco and sand, the warmth of latitude, and the bright-backlit silhouette appearance---even to the friendly gaze and alas, also the sometimes fading of light in memories as they age.

I read this, and as I did, what I saw was the first picture I ever saw of you on this board, and I miss the you of then; the me of then; while what defiantly stares back at me is the us of now.

We've traipsed through the sand of many places and everything we've seen gives the true words of today, the truth of all the yesterdays.

And now we are the wisdom of all our tomorrows.

Much enjoyed your words...today...and all the yesterdays.

Walk on, my friend...

j.

Hauntingly beautiful, dear Lori. And for some hidden reason this moves me deeply ...

Dear Maureen~

You make me feel all nostalgic and sentimental remembering our time in Ocean City, a time I will never forget.
Thanks for reading me.  Big hugs to you!

Smiling back at you, icebox.     Thank you dear man~

easy1~  Thanks for complimenting my poem with the bright backlit silhouette.  Your visit is much appreciated.

Martie, Martie~  You're sweet... Thank you for the lovely!!

Ms. Rose~  Hi there, and thanks for  leaving your kind reply for me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Helen~  I try to write graciously, and to live that way too, not that I always succeed... but I try.
Thank you always.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

jwesley~  Thank you for such a sweet sentimental reply, yes I miss those days too, but these days aren't so bad either.
The process of life is complex at best, but I think it's human nature, that a part of us does indeed live in the past.
You are such a dear and I thank you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Margherita~  Thank you for liking that.  Those moments in time were exhilarating, nothing like throwing caution to wind and living a little.       Thank you, thank you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Amaryllis~  I am glad to see you back among us.  Hope you're planning on staying for awhile.  Thanks  so much for your nice reply, that was so sweet of you to say so.

Bluesy - I read your writing, and the first impression was that I felt an ocean breeze, and I was at a beach taking in these words. One of your best...
