Kind of nice to know that,
beginning,
took all that time to create this song picture
of fragrant light and hushed embrace that is the universe,
just for us.

Before we came along there was no one around to even know
it was there.

And no one around to, appreciate it,
like we most, certainly,
have.

Before, us
it was all just a mistake
wasn’t it?

A cosmic contraception of Miss
Conception.

Before, us
the sky was just one big univers-
ity with no students.

It was, Whatsamatter U
with nothing much
ado.

I mean why have an art gallery
in a pitch dark basement?

Or a concert
where they hit the cymbals
with feathers?

We were,
the big bang
weren’t we?

Didn’t the clock really start
when the human mind
first conceived moment,
and rhythm?

Rhythm of breath,
winks, heartbeats
days, nights, seasons birth,
and death.

That’s it!

That’s it right there!

I just cracked the
Va Dinci
code!

The book,
was written upside down.

We’ve been reading it
backwards
all this time.

It was us,
all along!

We are,
In The Beginning!

Right now,
is,
the middle!

And as far as the, end,
hell, who knows
we’ll get around to that
when’ we’re ready,
okay?

Without consciousness
and thought,
what is there?

There is nothing,
absolutely nothing,
is there?

Wait, what did I just say?

Oh yeah.

This was all for us wasn’t it?

All these cute little
twinkling lights
in the sky.

For us.

All the planets, and skies, and oceans, and flowers
and plants and animals.

All for us.

Just us.

And no one else.

And for absolutely,
no other reason.

I mean how could it not be?

Look at how good we’ve treated our own
planet?

Of course we should be
the privileged one’s.

Planet us, was just dark and quiet
before we got here.

Now we have artificial lights
and synthesized sound,
and processed taste,
and battery powered touch,
and fabricated feelings
from drugs and booze and oh yeah,
real facebook to facebook communication,
from a skyway In the
nigh.

And we’re just getting started too.

Once we finish mowing down all
these damn trees and flowers that are in the way
we can start making more strip malls to feed our
consumer slut
frenzy
and fat gut bubble butt addiction
to our affliction
of dereliction.

All we need
is to feed our greed
of fat, sugar and, salt
and the sex of spreading
our seed.

We need, to put our own lights in the sky
and start advertising don’t we?

You want to talk about a huge market
we can exploit?

This crap is out of this world!

This is planet Hollywood waiting to blow up,
go universal even.

In fact we need our own set of stars in the sky
with a new name.

Milkyway is just sooo
last eon.

Maybe we can call it
the Mickey D Galaxy
with enough space ration
constipation stations
to form two big golden starch arches
in the sky.

That’ll really give this dark matter metropolis
some class won’t it?

Of course Sonic restaurants might have something
to say about our new name, but let them fight it out,
it doesn’t really matter what we call ourselves anymore anyway
does it?

We’ve sold out on everything else, what’s one tiny more thing?

That’s us right there; we’re always coming up with great ideas that make
total sense aren’t we?

Or at least ideas that satisfy our greed, to get ours, which is kind of the same thing,
isn’t it?

Of course our new Mickey Sonic Way is going to need
an oh thank heaven 7 11
and starbucks
on every dark corner, yes?

And, we’re going to need some car dealerships out there with us too
right?

How about a Saturn Dealership?

That kind of has a nice ring to it.

And maybe a used car lot for old Mercurys
and Ford Galaxies would make some sense
as well.

Of course Chevrolet not to be undone would have to bring back
the Chevy Nova,
just for gits and shiggles.

Hey quick question.

Are all the new stadiums going to have
astro turf now?

Jus wondrin.

Yes all we have to do is finish killing off
all these pesky little animals we’ve got running around here just getting
in the way and being a nuisance, that don’t belong here anymore anyway.

In fact they never did, right?

All they ever did, was leave things
as they were!

How innovative is that?

And as far as the dumps, and, Lady Gaga Cd’s go
we can just blast those off into space, like all the rest of our satellite crap
we’ve been throwing out into our orbit, and beyond already too.

Hey we don’t want all that crap and, our nasty nuclear waste, to boot
in our own backyard do we?

Just blow it over to our neighbors yard in alpha centauri, what do we care.

Heck, there’s plenty of, space out there anyway.

Just like the ocean and land here had plenty of room for us at first too,
but then it had to get all dirty and full of oil, and plastic grocery bags
and save the earth posters  on us didn’t it?

What we really need, is to start shipping some illegal aliens
from some third world planet over here to start cleaning up
all this mess.

Maybe the dark side of the moon has some, peoples, who have
nothing better to do, but dance around and smile all day.

And if they can’t get it done, we can just pocket the money
and leave them there; while we fly off to a new place that
isn’t all messed up already.

That’s not mean is it?

I’m sure space races are doing the same thing all over hell and creation
as well in their neck of the stars, aren’t they?

We’re just being us, right?

This isn’t anything new is it?

Have enough of us done anything to change this way we’ve evolved?

Oh okay, just checking, so we’re all on the same sheet of toilet paper, good
then lets proceed.

Maybe we could name our new constellation,
The New Cancer.

Yeah, a crab as the symbol of who we are, perfect, a bottom feeder!

Those little guys are the best, there not too stupid to work for their sustenance
they just go out and scrape the crap up off the floor.

Yep, thank god we’ve finally evolved into something we can be proud of.

Look out universe, there’s a new cancer in town, and there’s no known cure!

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Boy are they going to absolutely love us!

We’re the Zodiak killers of creation!

Ahhh good times.

Yeah, our mind is a terrible thing to waste, isn’t it?

In the beginning, there was, nothing.

In the end,
too bad we failed to realize,
that less was more.

THAT WAS AWESOME! It brought more than a few things to mind. If you havent' already, read the original book "The Time Machine." Then there's the short story of "Wump World." I read it every year to my students when we talk about recycling. Not to mention "The Lorax." There was plenty here to like, so I won't even begin to point out specific lines.  Just want to say thanks for the time and effort you put into this "rant." Peace to you and yours.
