Along the margins of sand
before gravel begins to rough the ends
of toes or ache the soul
she lays lapping at songs
heard only to her ears

still she swallows them
after tripping words upon
the tip of tongue and capturing
the way they taste of cinnamon
or the round soft of fat as lays
upon the palette as an aftertaste
when  the sun comes sad to some
but on others laughs softly
to ripple on fractals of light
reflected by water to lay warm

the river sings in hymns
and psalms to her who once
waited here
hair pulled up so neck can breathe,
skin pinked with blush of sun
and I strain to hear the sighs
that might come were I able

to touch with my soft words
though they stutter along
more the stones as roll in a rage of water
than the light subtle bend of hers
when they find purchase on a page
or in the heart

I watch the margins now,
to see her words and listen for
how it could have been
if  this a thought of heaven
be river bound
and words

had come to me

Cpat,
Glad I popped in on this one, your words transported me to a summer day waterside
and a girl from long ago. Old memories indeed.

Your writes are always an enjoyable way to spend a few moments away from reality... adn this is absolutely no exception.
Well done, sir

I know I can't grow up
to write like you
but yet, a dream
is a dream

and in some other world
and word
I may, if I might,
come true.

Ms. Sun,
No one should wish to write like I do...especially not when their own talent far exceeds the meager threads I offer here..

my thanks for the kind words and your eyes on this.

your words do many things Cpat Hair
but I am not convinced "stutter along" is one of them
these words flowed along my spine
and closed my eyes gently

Lady.... you're kind with your words ma'am, and I thank you.

As for stuttering, well to me they lack the true fluidity of ones well spoken. You're generous with your comment..............

thanks again ma'am
