was it that quiet glass of empty we shared
in that overcrowded room of strangers
jostling into each other as if on a trolley
blaming it on the sounds of songs
not the words they said, just the sounds

we crashed into each other too,  that morning
before the sun could look at our tattoos
and left painful memories deep inside ourselves
on purpose we agreed by mutually consenting
like it was some new drug we were consumed by

I see you with him quite often on sunday's
walking the airedales down madison lane
with the leash on so proper around your finger
and you smile at the trees as if they were people
leaving behind a scent of your fingers there

you said you have seen me there too on occasion
leaning against trees along the walkway south
as if I were dancing with them sometimes
or knew the scent of them like a lover once
and did I realize you had touched them before me

and you wished we hadn't hurt each other so lovely

I agree! The last line is a killer, but the line that really spoke to me was...

"leaving behind a scent of your fingers there"

This poem was sad and errotic at the same time. loved it!
