Once we were many, spread out all over the green and growing world.
Now we are going, any already gone, no place left for us in this busy space.
The pixies left first, too much building, too many machines for their delicate wings.
Not long after, the brownies began to leave, packing things in their delicate weaves.
The fairies are making preparation though they really have no place to go.
The dryads have fled into the deep woods, seeking trees that have not been touched.
The naiads are fleeing deeper into the waters, looking for virgin territory.
The trolls hold on, although true bridges are becoming harder to find.
Some darker spirits hold on, hiding the darkness of men's souls.
Soon all the lighter spirits will have fled to a place where there is less.
Less death, less pain, less destruction, less hate, less darkness.

And we will be the poorer for it.

how very much I enjoyed these thoughts!  The thought comes to mind that we, as humans, may be losing the magic little by little. Then again, we, as poets, can create our own magic, and that's what you did here!

Excellent! I chuckled at the trolls "holding on" line.

Sadly, your words also remind me of species extinctions due to ignorance and greed, and also of despicable "ethnic cleansing" episodes such as the wars of genocidal extermination waged by terribly misguided humans throughout many periods of history.

I agree, the world is losing it's magic except for we few who still believe.
