Mi now

For my husband, currently 3,000 miles away  =(
.
.
I rest beneath
the lattice pine,
watch the night perspire,
shutter eyes,
wait for dreamy trance
to kill the miles,
I in satin shadow
evening lie,
you in amber afternoon
still sunlit. Why,
why this yawning chasm
why the span
of minutes, hours,
lifetimes, yards
of land,
ribbons laid of
asphalt
in between,
shrug of mountain,
shy of valley,
desert, stream,
do you wipe your
brow
just now, my love
honest sweat
mingled with
the dust
of a parchment summer
without lust,
or rather, without woman,
how the bed
seems acres now
of cotton, cold
and dead,
and how the house
will echo with
the dearth
of childish laughter,
youthful joy and mirth,
at the sigh of darkness
do you reach
for my waiting softness,
does it teach
with a shout
of silent
absence then,
what you had,
you had,
could have again?
No, it`s dew
isn`t it, on the line,
once shriveled dry
like the trumpet vine,
but maybe, maybe
see a greening hint
about the root,
the leaf, the stem,
though bent,
trembles small
with love
so tentative,
let down your
moisture, love,
so we may live.

What a lovely poem! A real masterpiece. Phrases like "satin shadow," "shrug of mountain," "parchment summer," "waiting softness" are all examples of expert imagery. I'm in awe of your talent.

oh how I know about missing someone...my husband drives about 4000 miles a week, home every two weeks, and the phone just doesn't seem to appease my loneliness.

good write

You eloquently created a window for us to peek in on your life - a beautiful window wrapped with poetic words.

Love this.

What a lucky hubby to have such words and thoughts awaiting his homecoming.

This was gorgeous my friend, I hope you two aren't apart for very long.
