Soon I'll be on the road,
with my capsule sized
Kerouac adventure,
hitting cities and states
on the way to New Orleans,
grappling with the mad road,
its banana moon companion,
as Jack would say.

Through Los Angeles, where
the roads are paved with people,
to Phoenix and my childhood past,
where time has frozen,
for me, and no one else.
Sleeping over at my elementary
school best friend's house once again,
like old times, only now
he's a meth addict
that makes counterfeit
five dollar bills
out of his mom's house.

Refreezing Phoenix in the morning,
hoping next time I thaw my past
it will be back to my normal.

And on to New Mexico and the majestic
nothingness of Texas desert.
Nothing but the road and I,
where civility and barbarism mesh,
connect and sever.

I want to know all sides of the road.
I want to feel asphalt
heated by a lonely Texas sun,
the sweat of a sultry Louisiana overpass,
ride across rivers, through moths, through
hunger of every kind, through time,
I need to know time.

It is time.

Keep flying to the sun with these gargoyle wings.

I enjoyed the this.

It's about the taking the journey
quote:

Through Los Angeles, where
the roads are paved with people,

and about the difference between destination and where we want to be

quote:

to Phoenix and my childhood past,
where time has frozen,
for me, and no one else.

and how we motor on

quote:

Refreezing Phoenix in the morning,
hoping next time I thaw my past
it will be back to my normal.

Good luck on your trip~~

Sad about your old classmate, but life is sometimes warped by time.

James - thanks for reading.

M - I actually wrote this 8 months ago. just now decided to post it. I already made the long trip. it was a good trip. it is sad about my friend. life is warped by environment, too. Makes me wonder if I would went down the same "road" if i would have stayed there in, Phoenix. thanks for reading! =)

I enjoyed the description of your travels. It's so strange how time can warp from day to night.

I'm getting the travel bug myself...having only been to about 30 of the 50 states. Hubby has a driving partner but hopefully not for long!

I don't think there's any wrong roads in life though. Where we are is where we should be, for strange reasons maybe never known.
