“I quite agree with you,' said the Duchess; `and the moral of that is--Be what you would seem to be--or if you'd like it put more simply--Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.'
`I think I should understand that better,' Alice said very politely, `if I had it written down: but I can't quite follow it as you say it.'”
From Alice in Wonderland By Lewis Carol

................................................
The Looking Glass

This liquid ripples and the silver backing
Does not hold it straight enough to prohibit waves
That  distort the image reflected as a late tome on time
Telling all the tardy hour and of dates
Scurried past with little regard for tea

If the Queen of Red should dance upon the scene
You’d be set apart for those few suns and told to play the game
As pawn with truth a rook to slide past scene
While some stationary King barked bile at a curious cat whose grin
Was but a façade for the way it couldn’t swallow all
That might be hand fed in madness

Oh~ serene~~
A placid wash of words upon the white of tablecloth
Foretold the chaos that follows spilled milk or scattered flowers
When the garden speaks to you and reminds
“stand still you foolish aster” the sun can not find you
If you must move about so fast

And how does the master Walrus last in company
Of carpenters who are hungry for the thing
Or Kings who can’t remember when a child
Is but a child

At least it seems
The liquid that is glass moves slow and the rippled mass
Makes a bit your eyes sparkle when days are cold
And the single silver brush upon your stand collects the remnants
Of greying hair so that when time comes and you in a solitude of mad surround
Have a memory of how it was
To sup at tea, and eat with dainty fingers

Your dress still white
                                 After all these many years

The Hon. Rev Depp, might well reprise his role in Pirates rather than think of the madness in my scribbles sir. It is however a kind word that is appreciated..

many thanks Dark one.

This has great flow, and it gives you a great picture while you read it. It's very well written. I would enjoy to read more...  :-)
