Hydrangeas In The Summer Moonlight
By: Lisping Hibiscus
6/26/07

When I first saw her, I was enchanted beyond belief,
under a strawberry moon, white as the coats of dall sheep,
unspoken feelings consumed me to my heart’s delight,
flourishing like hydrangeas in the summer moonlight.

The humid breeze murmured like the droning of honeybees,
in Arlington Heights, I heard her amongst the new green leaves,
the West Hills have never had a more perfect lullaby,
coupled with the hydrangeas in the summer moonlight.

The first time she kissed me, I breathed inward her every word,
pollinating polyphony, my lilting hummingbird,
her sonata lingered like a Fender’s blue butterfly,
drinking dew from hydrangeas in the summer moonlight.

Dandling together in a field of calypso orchids,
I felt her body rise amidst an iridescent mist,
watching our prisms merge across the amethyst dusk sky,
reciting with hydrangeas in the summer moonlight.

Every syllable she speaks is leavened Elysium,
her heartsong can ripen the most exotic of date plums,
I heard a rumor when love is shared and glares at first sight,
the rainbows kiss hydrangeas in the summer moonlight.

Nothing like discovering rhyme in tales as old as time,
Oaks Bottom is her fairy glen, lace-capped by sugar pines,
she’s my endless summer, her confirmation fills the night,
finger-painting the hydrangeas in the summer moonlight.
