The cables continue but I prefer a letter
The censors didn’t have their bloody hands on
That detailed the way the hollow of throat is sensitive
And perhaps misses the tip of my fingers as they trace the skin
To the underside of jaw line

But then,
Perhaps it doesn’t in these difficult times as everyone has their fill
Of rationed ways, reserved speech, and of course their daily duties to perform.
Besides, memory is a treacherous thing when all there are, are thin words
And half gone images of some blurry ideal one may have thought they found

I’m sure there are plenty of sacrifices that come along
These cold and gloomy nights being as they are unseasonable after the heat
It’s difficult to keep the bed warm with only gusts of wind
Spread thin in lines upon some memory

Speaking of,
Old Jonesy found himself a French woman in town
And has forsaken the usual gatherings to measure in great detail
The distance between her eyes.
He is convinced that nothing matters but the way her pupils expand
When some small thing might pleasure her and says in some confidence
That she has a fine cellar with some wonderful tasting wine

I grow restive now
There seems so little to say at times and so much I would not speak of
For fear I think the worse, or discover that my morning tea
Does need a drop of cognac to rouse me for the day and further scrambling
Codes you know are a tedious lot, but we’ve all learned to speak that way
It seems

My regards to your Mother and Father should you think to pass them along
I must close for now.
                                                  Regards
                                                       Jackson

Thanks for looking in Ma'am....

glad there is something in this you might enjoy...  this one is pretty thin pickings I fear and am not sure if they can or will continue. Inspiration comes and goes, not all worthy of a series.

thank you, always

I can imagine that french woman and her wine..something about her speech I would visualize and how she speaks of old jonesy watching her like a hound waiting his bowl of eden...your letters are special windows that saturday evening post the events quite worthy.

The cables continue but I prefer a letter

~*~

As do many.

***

You elicit captive readers...
leaving them wondering...
speechless....

how could a mere response equate
to this storied line...

knowing that if they threw in a pebble,
it might ripple the pond so much so
that the mystery might drown...

I take such a chance, and thus
from a voice box gone silent, mouth
the words...

write on....

you know... the mystery exists no matter the pebble or the ripples widened path...
understanding is always a matter of where you are at the point in time and what you can see from the bank of the pond..

thanks for the kind reply ma'am..
