her name was july and she could read my eyes
how I wanted more than just an afternoon
and a bottle of whiskey kind of woman
that only leaves one emptier over time

I guess I was obvious in my agreement
but she mentioned she could not give more
then a part of herself since she had before
the majority had been otherwise assigned

to three other husbands that were not worthy
but took from her anyway until she was empty
and then went in search of other nourshment
somewhere else to feed on someone else's soul

it seemed approptiate just to smile then
and offer my arm to take her out dancing
and then perhaps some chestnuts and brandy
and the fireworks that would follow until dawn

as we celebrated my forth of that special july

I'll be either October, or December. Both work for me.

in july's bright light
he was a temple
destroyed by fire
teetering
on the borrowed landscape
of a zen garden
edged in weathered planks,
she raked him
into concentric circles
playing the tension
between stability and flux
like a nawa-shi master.

Mmmm... I do love summer.

ms indi...
woman on peaceful leash
does the weaver of filaments
that bind your soul inside
dare you to wear his knots there
at your edges, to learn of love
from the rim of a silken prison
